SOURCE : Loogaroo : West Indian shape-shifting vampires
The West Indian natives hold that loogaroos are human beings, especially old women, who have made a pact with the devil, by which the fiend bestows upon them certain magic powers on condition that every night they provide him with a quantity of rich warm blood. So every night the loogaroos make their way to the occult silk-cotton tree, often known as the Devil’s tree, and there, having divested themselves of their skins which are carefully folded up and concealed in the form of a ball of sulphurous fire, they speed abroad on their horrid business.
Even today visitors to Grenada have been called out of the house late at night by servants to see the loogaroos, and their attention is directed to any solitary light which happens to flash through the darkness. Until dawn the loogaroos are at work, and any native who feels tired and languid upon waking will swear that the vampire has sucked his blood.

Honey that is not a loogaroo that is described, that is known as a soucoyant (soo-koo-yah)… a loogaroo is our (Trinidad&Tobago) version of a warewolf. Between midnight and three am he can only be seen by placing the mucus from a dogs eye (yampie) into your eye and peeping thorugh your peephole…. I do appreciate you posting this informayion because theres not much that can be found about our culture…
Papa Bois Half man half horse protector of the forest and all wildlife
Mama Dlo Half woman half snake protector of rivers and married to Papa Bois
La Diablesse (Laja bless) Very beautiful woman with a cows hoof in place of a foot. Lures men into the forest never to return
Douenes (Dwens) are the restless souls of children who died before being christened, their feet are turned backwards. They live in the forest and are protected by Papa Bois, Mama Dlo and La Diabless, whose victims are new playmates for the Douennes.
Soucouant The interpretation of loogaroo in the article above is exact except …. it is a Socouyant not a loogaroo. To protect yourself from a soucouyant, sprinkle salt and pepper around your bed. Another way is to count out 10000 grains of rice. She’ll be distracted by counting them the sun will rise and she will perish.
Loup Garou (loogaroo) is actually a shape shifting warewolf on first glimpse, he is seen as a man dragging a coffin with dogs accomapnying him. But if you place the cold from a dogs eye into your eye and look through your peephole, you see that he has transformed to very large warewolf
